Sutton Foster reunites with Music Director Michael Rafter for a national concert tour called An Evening with Sutton Foster.  The show features Broadway show-stoppers as well as material from her debut album, Wish, which was released on Ghostlight Records last year.  Her tour launches today in St. Louis, MO.  Then, she’s on the move around the country to Ohio, California, Florida, then North Carolina.  Additional cities and dates are to be announced soon.  Check out broadway.com for updates!

‘Hair’ Has New Way to Spread the Love

“Starting Tuesday night a high-definition video camera, attached near the balcony rail at the Al Hirschfeld Theater, will capture the so-called dance parties at the end of the each performance of “Hair,” when cast members of the musical revival coax audience members onstage to rock out with them as the band plays “Let the Sunshine In.”

“About four hours after each performance the video will be available for anyone to view on hairbroadway.com. Visitors can choose any dance party to download to Facebook pages, or share with friends and others through e-mail or Twitter. Audience members can tag themselves on the videos so that friends can go to the “Hair” Web site and find the precise moment when the person appears on screen.”

Sam Tsui and Kurt Schneider grew up a street away from each other, in a suburb of Philadelphia, and rode the same bus to school every day for all of middle school and high school.  The first recording they made was with Garageband in a living room, and that might have been the end of the story.  But as it happened, they became the only two kids to go to Yale University from their high school in years.

Today, with over 80,000 subscribers on YouTube and over 15 million views on all their videos, Kurt and Sam are a force to look out for in 2010 and a must-hear for fans of “Glee”, “American Idol”, “The Sing-Off” and “High School Musical!”

ASTEP (Artists Striving to End Poverty) and Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records are presenting the second annual concert presentation of New York City Christmas tonight at Joe’s Pub.  The concert features performances by Sherie Rene Scott, Raul Esparza, Orfeh, Sally Wilfert, Sierra Boggess, and many more.  Proceeds go to ASTEP.  Tony Award winner Harriet Harris will host.

Vital Theatre Company’s production of Pinkalicious, the Musical has extended its run at Off-Broadway’s 45 Bleecker Street through February 2010.  The production plays Saturdays and Sundays at 1 PM and is appropriate for children ages two to ten.
